Here are a few of the web sites I've designed. Some were done when I worked for 3ip.net, a small web hosting and design company; others were done freelance.

Galerie de Hedda
The online portfolio of illustrator and designer Heather Drake. As with any online graphics portfolio, this deceptively simple site presented a lot of problems. It would, by nature, be a graphics intensive site, but we wanted the pages to load in less than a day. The site design had to compliment, but not overwhelm, the style of Heather's work. Last but not least, the body of work fell into different categories, each with its own display needs. I'm pleased with the resultsof course, the fact that I really enjoy Heather's work made my work much more fun.

Valerie Reiss
Another online portfoliothis time for a writer. The visuals needed to be simple (after all, the writing is the point), but she still wanted it to look fun. Valerie adds the writing clips herself, via secure administrative web forms.

Laura Shin
Another writer's site. Laura had a good idea of what she wanted and my job was to pull it together for her. I did the graphics and basic layout then turned it over to her. Laura added all of the content and does the maintenance herself. |

Templar Food Products
Templar formulates and manufactures iced tea beverages for private labels. Although they do not sell directly to the consumer, they wanted their site to be interesting to tea drinkers as well as promoting their company to their trade customers. The site is currently available in both English and Spanish versions.

The Type Quarry
The Type Quarry is 3ip.net's sister company: both are divisions of Three Island Press, my former house of employ. You might think an "in-house" project would be easier than a client project. You would be wrong. When we decided to do a complete overhaul of the TQ site, our goals included better organization of our ever expanding type library, easier online ordering, easier site updates, full and detailed type showings, and a fresh, new lookall the while retaining enough elements from the old site to keep head honcho Brian Willson from going into change induced shock. In the end, Brian left the country and a marathon session by the entire 3ip staff got us up and running. Check out the Flash-based TQ Type Tester.
