Knitting. Cheaper than Prozac.

Fun with Pointy Sticks
I'd thought about starting a knitting blog but knew I'd never keep up with it. Someday, I'll post about some of my favorite projects, like this one, but in the meantime, here are a few free original patterns.

Kitchen Towels
I needed hand towels for the kitchen. My mother needed a bit more on her KnitPicks order to get free shipping. So I ordered a few skeins of CotLin to help her out. I made a smaller version of the hand towel from Mason Dixon Knits. I liked it, but not enough to make two or three more just like it. So I worked out a few more patterns. Here they are.

Pirate Bootie
I went a little nuts in anticpation of the arrival of my first great-niece. You don't even want to know how many little sweaters, hats, and booties I made. Baby stuff is so much fun. Here's the pattern for the matching set of Pirate Hat & Booties. Ahoy!

Illusion Scarves
These three illusion scarves were made as gifts. The Alien Scarf was designed by Shetha Nolke; the pattern can be found in the fabulous Stitch N Bitch: The Knitter’s Handbook by Debbie Stoller. After starting the Aliens, I was so tickled with them that I had to try my hand at making my own charts and so we have Robots and Cats in Shades.

If you’ve never done illusion knitting before, it really isn’t hard. The WOW factor far surpasses the difficulty factor: If you can knit and purl, you can do it. If you’ve never followed a chart before, this is a good place to start-—you only have to remember two symbols.
